How do I use Composer 2 to update my SoundExchange Schedule?

If you are an NFCB or non-member station you are used to visiting the PublicInteractive Composer Basic tool to submit your SoundExchange Reporting each quarter. In an effort to create a better user experience and increased security we will be working on making changes to the SoundExchange process in 2018.  The first phase of this is sunsetting the Composer Basic Tool and moving the schedule and calendar functionality into Composer 2. Read more here. The benefit of using Composer 2 is that it gives you an easier way to make schedule changes to your guide.

WHAT'S DIFFERENT?
If you try to submit SoundExchange using your bookmarked PublicInteractive Composer Basic link: http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/stationcallletters/guide.guideadmin
you will now be redirected to the new Composer 2 interface: http://composer.nprstations.org to add your syndicated programs to your schedule.

If your station has added new syndicated programs to your schedule this quarter you must now enter them in Composer 2.

If you don't have any changes to your schedule, please visit the SoundExchange Dashboard directly to upload your logs. The existing SoundExchange Dashboard you are used to seeing in Composer Basic is still accessible here:
http://sx.publicbroadcasting.net/demo/sx.sxadmin?action=uploadLogs
(Replace demo with your station call letters)

WHAT DO I DO TO SUBMIT FOR SOUNDEXCHANGE THIS QUARTER? Click the link below that best describes your needs.
  1. COMPOSER 2 - Your station has always used Composer 2.
  2. COMPOSER BASIC + ADD NEW SYNDICATED PROGRAM - Your station has always used Public Interactive Composer BASIC + you need to add a new syndicated program to your schedule.
  3. COMPOSER BASIC + SUBMIT LOGS ONLY - Your station has always used Public Interactive Composer BASIC + you do not have to add a new program to your schedule.
  4. UNSURE - If you're not sure, submit a ticket and we will help you figure it out!

COMPOSER 2 ONLY  USERS:
For stations that subscribe to Digital Services and fully use Composer 2 NOTHING HAS CHANGED FOR YOU.  Your calendar should be up to date already. If you've been adding your playlist throughout the quarter, your playlist data will automatically be pulled into SoundExchange for the quarter.

STEP 1:
If you're not a full quarter reporter you still need to select your reporting dates in the SoundExchange Dashboard
STEP 2: If you're used to submitting your STREAMING logs, some providers will take care of this for you, you still need to upload them in the SoundExchange Dashboard.

Visit the SoundExchange Dashboard here:
http://sx.publicbroadcasting.net/demo/sx.sxadmin?action=uploadLogs
(Replace demo with your station call letters)

If you've forgotten your password, please submit a ticket.

COMPOSER BASIC ONLY USERS:

If you are an NFCB or non-member station you have used the PublicInteractive Composer Basic to upload your logs for SoundExchange every quarter. Composer 2 is a new tool for you.

Before you submit your Sound Exchange logs, you may want to double check your Syndicated Programs on your schedule. Your local programs as reflected in the schedule guide do not have to be correct, just the syndicated ones.

SKIP TO STEP 2: IF YOU DON'T NEED TO CHANGE YOUR SCHEDULE OR ADD A NEW SYNDICATED PROGRAM.

STEP 1: REVIEW YOUR GUIDE & UPDATE SYNDICATED PROGRAMS:

We migrated your existing Composer Basic calendar to Composer 2. If you are unsure what you PublicInteractive Composer Basic “Guide” previously reflected for your Syndicated Programs, please review the data we imported into Composer 2.

Note: You will need a new username and password to access Composer 2. Your old Composer Pro/Basic credentials will not work in C2. Please submit a ticket to us so we can provide you with these credentials.

After you log into Composer 2, please look over the Syndicated Programs and check for accuracy.

You can also review instructions for updating your calendar below:
  • To delete a program from your calendar, follow these instructions:http://nprsupport.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/2650295
  • If you have a syndicated program in the wrong position, you’ll want to adjust the airtime. Use the above article to end-date the airtime that is wrong, and hit save. Then, then create a new airtime for the program in the right time slot and save your work.
  • If you have a new syndicated program that isn’t on your calendar at all, you need to create a new program.  Follow these instructions to add the new syndicated program to your calendar:  http://nprsupport.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/2650287
  • If you get a “conflict” message, position the new program “on top” of your other programs that may already be on the grid. Remember, your local programming information is not important for this step. Only the Syndicated programming information is needed.

STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR LOGS:
To submit your logs for SoundExchange Reporting, log into the Sound Exchange Dashboard directly.
Visit: http://sx.publicbroadcasting.net/demo/sx.sxadmin?action=uploadLogs
(Replace demo with your station call letters)

Use the username/password credentials that you have used in the past to get to Public Interactive's Composer Basic. If you have forgotten your credentials, submit a ticket and we will help reset you.
