Core Publisher: How can I add a block of Posts related by Category on my homepage?

Use the Category Block to feature up to five posts on your homepage from either your /news, /npr-news or one of your Category pages. Category Blocks allow you to create more focused content blocks to draw your visitors to your different content pages.

To create a Category Block:
Note: All fields with a red asterisk (*) are required to save your new block.
  1. Click on the Add block link in the Block Factory box in your Core Publisher admin.
  2. Select Category Block from the Choose Block Type list.
  3. Select Mini River from the Choose Treatment list.
  4. Enter the title of your block in the Block Title field. By default, the title will display on the homepage above the block.
  5. Check the Hide Block Title check box if you do not want the title to display on the homepage.
  6. If you want your Block Title to link to another page associated with your RSS feed, add the full URL (including http://) to the Make Block Title a link field.
  7. In the Block Content section, select the sort of posts that you want to pull into your Category Block.
    • Select Local Stories to pull in only posts that you and your team have created on your Core Publisher site.
    • Select NPR Stories to pull in only posts that have been pulled in automatically from the NPR Story API.
    • Select Both Local and NPR Stories to pull in both posts from both the NPR Story API and posts that were created on your site.
  8. If you want to filter your posts to only display posts of a certain category, select it from the Filter by Category dropdown. If you want to display posts of all Categories, select the No Filter option.
  9. Select the number of stories that you want to display in the block in the Number of stories to display dropdown.
  10. Enter the text that will display at the bottom of the block to link to the news or Category page in the “More News” Button field.
  11. Click on the Save button to save your block, or Save & View to save your block and be taken to a preview of what it will look like.
