How do I update my HTTPS Stream in StationConnect?
At this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple noted that they will soon require all apps to pull their content through secure links (HTTPS), and by 2017, will no longer support apps that fail to do so.
After January 2017, if you would like your podcasts to play in an iOS app, that either is new to the App Store or requires regular updates, your podcasts will need to be secure URLs. The podcast feed as well as any content embedded in your podcast feed, including audio, will need to be secure as well. The Digital Services team has been working hard behind the scenes to do all we can to do as much of the heavy lifting we can for you.
StationConnect feeds your streams to NPR.org and the NPR News app. Please follow these instructions to add your new secure streams to StationConnect.
- Log into StationConnect using your NPRstations.org username and password.
- In the center column under Streams, locate and click on the Stream you wish to edit.
- Replace your old http stream with your new secure HTTPS stream url.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
