StationConnect: How do I update my HTTPS Podcast URL?

At this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple noted that they will soon require all apps to pull their content through secure links (HTTPS), and by 2017, will no longer support apps that fail to do so.
After January 2017, if you would like your podcasts to play in an iOS app, that either is new to the App Store or requires regular updates, your podcasts will need to be secure URLs. The podcast feed as well as any content embedded in your podcast feed, including audio, will need to be secure as well. The Digital Services team has been working hard behind the scenes to do all we can to do as much of the heavy lifting we can for you.

StationConnect feeds your streams to NPR.org and the NPR News app. Please follow these instructions to add your new secure streams to StationConnect.

  1. Log into StationConnect using your NPRstations.org username and password.
  2. In the right hand column under Podcasts, locate and click on the Podcast you wish to edit.
  3. Replace your old http podcast with your new secure HTTPS podcast url.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click Save.
  5. Your new secure podcast will now be available in NPR One, on NPR.org and in the NPR News app.
