Analytics: On-Demand Data Missing from Weekly Emails & Dashboards

Troubleshooting On-Demand Tracking

1.   When I click on the On Demand Audio Tab, I see a message that says, "On Demand metrics are provided on a station-by-station basis, and require some custom set up”

If On Demand statistics are not showing up in the On Demand Dashboard, either you have not set up On Demand tracking in SAS, or we have stopped receiving On Demand Data from your site.

Core Publisher Sites:

On-Demand tracking is set up automatically for audio files uploaded through Core Publisher.  However, there is an additional step still needed to set up program level tracking in your On-Demand dashboards.
  1. Register or login to Station Analytics System (SAS).
  2. Add your podcast RSS to station connect:
    1. Login to Station Connect.
    2. Click the ‘Add Podcast’ button. This opens the ‘Editing Podcast’ view, where you will add the Podcast RSS Feed, the station associated with the podcast, the title and description. If you have an iTunes ID, you should also add this. Please note that you will need to enter all required fields in order to save.
    3. Hit ‘Save Changes’ and you will have successfully added your podcast RSS feed.
  3. In SAS, select the On-Demand Audio tab to see your audience size and engagement by podcast.
If you have recently transitioned to Core Publisher:

After your Core Publisher site goes live, we schedule time with our development team to complete your On-Demand tracking setup.  Depending on what other development work is currently in process, and when your site goes live in relation to our 2-week development sprint schedule,  it can take 2 - 4 weeks to complete your dashboard setup within the SAS interface.  If you have questions about the status of your setup,
please submit a ticket.

My site is not Core Publisher:

If you do not use Core Publisher as your CMS, the Station Analytics System will need to access logs of your on-demand audio in order to provide you with analytics. These logs must be provided via a FTP account where Digital Services can download the logs nightly.
  1. In order to send us this information:
    1. Go to “Set Up” >> “On Demand” >> “Upload sample log file”>> "Enter FTP credentials”
    2. Click on the wrench icon next to your station name
    3. Fill in the required information and include a primary contact for on-demand files.
    4. Save changes.https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/139Th3O0nZJUtCXMVeG5WN5mW7pPWZxJR5JKs-vpGOC4u8Vq2VJoa8DnmCy8-_1nhC2zlsLQPhI3RT6yhVyHLbOtpD__1TUi6waCxzdJI-1Z6n74NonBpb4O-vY-KRk1qm0Jn5dP
  2. In order to get program level reporting, enter your podcast RSS to station connect, login to Station Connect. Hit ‘Save Changes’ and you will have successfully added your podcast RSS feed.
If you are still not seeing anything in the On Demand Audio Tab, please confirm you are still submitting logs to the ftp site you specified during your setup, and submit a ticket to NPR Digital Services

Core Publisher Site Additional On Demand Source:

If you have a Core Publisher site, but you have an additional On Demand source you would like to track in SAS, please
submit a ticket to Digital Services

2.   When I click on the On Demand Audio Tab, my program report is empty. How do I get program information into my SAS?

To get program information, update your program RSS feed in station connect.

To add your podcast RSS feed in station connect, login to
Station Connect. To add a new podcast, click the ‘Add Podcast’ button. This opens the ‘Editing Podcast’ view, where you will add the Podcast RSS Feed, the station associated with the podcast, the title and description. If you have an iTunes ID, you should also add this. Please note that you will need to enter all required fields in order to save. Hit ‘Save Changes’ and you will have successfully added your podcast RSS feed.
